How Temasek Foundation Partnered with SMRT & Other Companies to Give Back to Singapore During COVID-19

1. Public transport operator SMRT provided 20 buses for retrofitting them with a Negative Pressure System and a HEPA filter for the mass transfer of COVID-19 patients in May 2020. In this initiative, Temasek Foundation, Sheares Healthcare (owner of COMET MAXI fleet), SMRT subsidiary STRIDES Transportation, and TRIGEN Automotive (special function vehicle division of HOPE Technik) worked together to get the buses retrofitted with special equipment and safety features in just 3 days. Temasek also partnered with SBS Transit and other transportation companies to retrofit 30 more vehicles for the safe transportation of the patients.
2. The foundation engaged medical partners like Parkway Pantai, The Farrer Park Company, and OneCare Medical to enhance Singapore’s COVID-19 testing efforts.
3. It worked with the Singapore Government and industry partners including Resorts World and Parkway Pantai to build and manage medical care and recovery facilities for COVID-19 patients.
4. The team at Temasek distributed hand sanitisers, masks, face shields, disinfectants, and mouthwash to clinics, medical centres, nursing homes, and social service centres. It provided reusable masks to migrant workers and domestic helpers. Temasek started #BYOBclean hand sanitiser initiative in March 2020 to distribute free hand sanitisers to all households in Singapore.
5. Temasek provided meals and food security to low-income households and individuals in need. It started “My Mental Health” to help users get the necessary support for their mental health needs during the crisis.
6. Temasek has also invested in the development of a COVID-19 vaccine. Tychan, a Temasek investee company, is conducting a third trial for a potential vaccine for treating COVID-19 patients.
7. Temasek partnered with Advanced MedTech (AMTH) to design and manufacture remote-controlled ventilators.
